Open House in New York launches photography competition
At America’s largest architect and design event, the 7th Annual Open House Weekend in New York City October 10-11, the public can embark on individual tours of usually closed or unknown spaces in the city and submit their best pictures afterwards.
Project Basho, Onward ‘10, juried photography competition
Project Basho, a photography resource center in Philadelphia, is now accepting submissions for the ONWARD ‘10 competition. This year’s juror is Debbie Fleming Caffery, noted documentary photographer and Guggenheim fellow.
Selected work will be featured in a group exhibition at Project Basho in February 2010 as well as in Project Basho’s online gallery. Special recognition will be awarded in the form of cash prizes and the opportunity for a two-person show at Project Basho Gallery.
AIA Miami 2009 International Architectural Photography Competition
AIA Miami presents the 16th Annual – 2009 International Architectural Photography Competition. The top entries will be exhibited during Celebrate Architecture 2009 as well at the 2010 AIA National Convention in Miami. With this call of entries, AIA Miami introduces a special category in honor of the 2010 AIA National Convention in Miami. Entries located in Miami will be selected for a special exhibit during the event in June 2010.
Essex Heritage accepting entries in photo contest
All amateur photographers are invited to submit images to the Essex Heritage Photo Contest. Any photos captured between Nov. 1, 2008, and Oct. 15, 2009, are eligible. Share your story and submit any images taken in the Essex National Heritage Area, assigning them to one of four categories: “My Space,” “On a Photo Safari,” “General Images of ENHA” or “National Historic Landmarks.”

October contest theme: Pink
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the small pink ribbons that adorn lapels and blouses will be out in force.
We’ve never had a single color as a contest theme, so let’s give it a try.
Your photos do NOT have to have anything to do with breast cancer awareness; they simply have to include the color pink in an effective way: Significant or subtle, central focus or interesting highlight.
“Peanuts” look-alike photo contest

Anticipating the 60th anniversary of the “Peanuts” comic strip next year, a panel of celebrity judges has agreed to jury entries in the “First Official Peanuts Look-a-Like Contest.”
Moms and dads across the country are invited to submit photos of their children looking like one of these Peanuts characters: Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Lucy, Linus, Sally, Schroeder, Franklin, Peppermint Patty, Marcie or Pigpen, or one of Snoopy’s classic alter-egos, Joe Cool or the World War I Flying Ace.
WTA Northwest Exposure Photo Contest
The Washington Trails Association’s 7th annual Northwest Exposure photo contest is underway now, with a deadline of October 16th, 2009. If you have an interest in photography and the outdoors, I highly recommend you consider it; it’s a lot of fun!
