On this trip I took my recently purchased Nikon D 7000 with me, but kept it well away from the sand and the beach! Away from the shore there is no shortage of photographic subjects. Crete is an island with a rugged mountainous interior along with a facinating history.

I stumbled upon the picturesque village of Plakias by accident in 1993 and vowed then to return. Nevertheless, it took me 10 years to return. Like several Greek villages it has expanded over this time, but the isolated site on the South coast has meant that development has been slow as well as the resort has not lost it’s charm or friendly character.
