Most of the batteries will hold at least a five hour charge so you should be fine once you charge it up for a while. Make sure you figure out how to read the battery life on your digital camera so you will never need to use it and not have enough battery life left to use it (like my mum)
There are many diverse types of camera chargers and you will need to make sure you have the right one for your product IE: your EX-Z35 charger wont fit your D40. When you buy a digital camera these chargers should come with it. Some have a cord that plugs into the wall and then into the digital camera.
